Course Suitability: beginner

Location: Sewing with Style Studio, The Quilting Bee, Craig y Don, Llandudno

• You will start by choosing your fabrics for both designs. 
• Practicalities: Threading your machine, cutting your bag and vest top.
• We will then practice straight stitching before we get stuck in!
• Make a stylish origami knot bag and learn how to sew around a curve, insert a lining and decorate by using origami pleating techniques
• In the afternoon, we will make this cotton vest top where you will learn how to fit your pattern, add facings and top stitch.

At the end of the day, you will have two items that you can show off with pride!

Course includes all materials and instructions which you can take home with you.

Please bring your own sewing machine, or if you prefer, we can loan you a machine for a small sum.

This outfit will take you from casual to cocktails in an instant.

The gentle fluid lines hugs the body without being too restrictive. The top has a batwing sleeve, cuffs and a chunky waistband. The skirt is straight with a slight flair also finished with a chunky waistband.

The new pattern is included in the price!

Details on the Makers Atelier Shirt:

An updated classic shirt with extended yoke for a dropped shoulder effect. This shirt has three distinct variations: a classic straight back, a pleated back and a gathered back with gathered sleeves.

The straight and gathered back shirts are longer than the pleated back shirt, so they can be worn tucked in. 

Both the straight and gathered back shirts are suitable for those with medium experience, especially if choosing the simpler of the two cuff placket options. Where as the pleated back shirt is for experienced sewers. 

Dates: 12 March for 4 weeks (last date 9 April) - Wednesday evenings 

Session timings are from 18:00 - 20:30hrs

The use of top of the range overlockers are included, plus the use of cutting tables and irons.  There is a fully stocked haberdashery at the Quilting Bee downstairs, therefore any forgotten bits can be purchased at class.

Tea, coffee plus a treat is included.

Location: The Quilting Bee, Llandudno

Make your first garment fitted to your body.  

• Cutting the pattern to your body measurements
• Cutting the fabric
• Creating the garment using our own Janome machines (or bring your own) and Babylock overlockers
• Final press and fit

This course includes your own Simplicity pattern and all materials.

The theme for April is summer jackets.

You can attend this five week course with a jacket pattern of your choice or you can join us on the sew along patterns:

Option 1: Trend Patterns Puff Back Jacket 

Jacket features are a laid on sleeve, meaning the body and sleeve are all in one. Gathered back detail is the pattern version, however we will make a box pleat to create a trench jacket look. Pockets with a welt detail. And it’s fully lined.

The pattern includes a lining, however throughout the booklet there are steps to help you if you’re making a jacket without lining.

Option 2: The Alternative Denim Jacket 

A firm favourite amongst the regulars at Sewing with Style. This jacket is a beauty to sew. Raglan sleeves plus top stitching makes this a stylish alternative to a denim jacket. We will create a lining to accompany the jacket.

The use of top of the range overlockers are included, plus the use of cutting tables and irons.  There is a fully stocked haberdashery at the Quilting Bee downstairs, therefore any forgotten bits can be purchased at class.

Tea, coffee plus a treat is included.

The French Style jacket is a wardrobe staple.  The deceptively simple shape hides a multitude of couture techniques.  Come and join us to make this classic at Sewing with Style.  Lose yourself in the hand sewing techniques honed in the ateliers in Paris.

We will start by making a toile (practice garment).  From then we will fit the garment to your figure and make adjustments to the pattern.  The following days will be spent cutting the beautiful tweed (possible pattern matching!), quilting, fitting a sleeve, adding pockets, fringing (optional), gimp braiding (optional) and using hidden techniques to make this a truly beautiful addition to your wardrobe.

Course inclusions: Exclusive Sewing with Style French Couture Jacket Pattern (not available for general sale), high quality interfacing for the full jacket, specialist tuition in French Couture Techniques.

Location: Sewing with Style Studio, an airy studio based above the popular Quilting and Haberdashery shop in Craig y Don, Llandudno.
